i am sorry to unbutton your v-neck vogue
and ruffle the edges of your over-confident shirt;
to pick apart the political plaid and crease the pleats of
the religious ‘roys you wear so well; perhaps, given time and a drink,
i’d unzip the entire length of those monstrous hippie huggers—
whatever they’re called—and see you shiver in the cold bright nude.
oh, i’m not attracted to you—quite the opposite, really.
i simply can’t stand to watch your fashion of falsehoods
parade in the open anymore. you’d look better, to be frank,
wearing the emperor’s new clothes.
