Glory of the Lord: Enunciation of Love

The Story of Robert

It would be unlikely for me to end any spiritual composition–no matter how dark its parts may sometimes be–with anything other than a celebration of the universality and abiding truth of God’s love and redemption. This seventh and final part of “Glory of the Lord” is really quite simple–a call to do away with worry and anxiety, to embrace the good God blesses us with, and rejoice in the God who gives us that goodness. When it comes down to it, there is something so simply beautiful about praise that requires no complex articulation of faith, no vow or creed–just the baring of oneself before God. This is that attempted (though not perfected).

I finish the mass, then, in peace with this great voice of jubilation, The Rejoicing.

P. All holy creatures set upon this earth,
All angels in the host of heaven,
All spirits past their day,
All good and righteous things:
Sing to the glory of the Lord!

R. Alleluia! Christ is Lord! Alleluia! Glory to our God!

P. All you nations praise him;
All you sons rejoice;
All you daughters look to Zion
And give thanks for the glory of our God!

R. Alleluia! Christ is Lord! Alleluia! Glory to our God!

P. All you sinners halt your weeping;
All you dead, rise up;
All you vengeful, put away your strife
And give thanks for the glory of our God!

R. Alleluia! Christ is Lord! Alleluia! Glory to our God!

P. All you weak, sound out your strength;
All you haughty, bend yourselves down;
All you poor, weep for your riches
And give thanks for the glory of our God!

R. Alleluia! Christ is Lord! Alleluia! Glory to our God!

P. All you ignorant, tell of your wisdom;
All you faithless, lift up your souls;
All you cowards, charge forth in courage
And give thanks for the glory of our God!

R. Alleluia! Christ is Lord! Alleluia! Glory to our God!

P. All you sundry, walk now united;
All you tempestuous, walk now in peace;
All you doubters, sing of your faith
And give thanks for the glory of our God!

R. Alleluia! Christ is Lord! Alleluia! Glory to our God!
Alleluia! Christ is Lord! Alleluia! Glory to our God!
